- What does the scholarship cover?
- The scholarship covers the expenses of the trip which are booked directly by our organization and include: flight, accommodations, transportation costs & a university meal package that covers about 70% of their meals.
- What are the eligibility requirements?
- The eligibility of the students are as follows:
- Must be paying for college with a form of financial assistance (student loan, FASFA, etc)
- Between the age of 18-25 years old
- Florida Resident of one of the following counties: Martin, St Lucie, Okeechobee, or Indian River
- GPA 2.5 and above
- This scholarship application is open to college students and trade/certificate program students.
- With the scholarship in place, what is the expense to the student?
- The students are responsible for their personal expenses during the trip. Additionally, they must cover select lunches on excursions and all dinners, which make up about 30% of meals.
- What is the amount of the scholarship?
- We have partial and full scholarships available each year based on need. The full scholarship amount is $6000.
- How is the scholarship money distributed?
- The scholarship money is applied directly to the expenses of the study abroad trip hosted by our organization.
- How long is the study abroad trip?
- The trip is a 4-week (month-long) educational experience.
- What are the volunteer requirements of the students selected?
- Once a student is selected, they are required to participate in at least 3 events within a (1) year timeframe with The Traveling Youth.
- How do you choose the students?
- We have a rigorous multi-step vetting process for each applicant.
- When is your next trip?
- Our next study abroad trip is currently scheduled for 2025.
- What are your plans for 2024?
- In 2024, our focus is on strategic development and preparation for future initiatives. This includes refining our program offerings, strengthening partnerships, and enhancing operational efficiency. We are committed to laying a solid foundation for our organization’s growth and sustainability, ensuring that we continue to make a meaningful impact in the communities we serve.

- In 2025, we are excited to resume our study abroad program, providing transformative experiences for underserved young adults. Our goal is to expand our outreach, enhance program quality, and foster deeper connections with our partner institutions. Additionally, we plan to explore new opportunities for growth and sustainability to ensure the long-term success of our organization and the impactful experiences we provide.

- We did receive applications; however, after careful consideration, we determined that the number of qualified candidates did not meet the criteria required to proceed with the 2024 study abroad trip. As an organization dedicated to being fiscally responsible with donor dollars, we prioritize maintaining a high standard of participant qualifications to ensure the best possible outcomes for all involved.
- What does the future hold for this organization?
- Building on the valuable insights gained in 2023, our focus in 2024 is dedicated to devising innovative solutions aimed at addressing the economic challenges faced by our target beneficiaries. These efforts are integral to securing a sustainable and impactful future for our organization’s mission.
- If you’re not sending students in 2024, why are you continuing to fundraise?
- We are dedicated to securing the future success of our organization through ongoing fundraising efforts. Currently fully funded by donor dollars, we aim to expand our financial resources by exploring grant opportunities this year. With minimal overhead expenses, every dollar raised directly contributes to our mission, allowing us to increase our capacity to send more students on life-changing study abroad trips in the coming years.
- What are you doing with the donated dollars this year?
- All the funds we have raised in 2023/2024 are still allocated towards our future study abroad trips.
- When will the applications for the 2025 study abroad be open?
